I'm baaaaaaaaaaack!

KABLAMO!

It'sa me! Joshie-poo, back from the sunny land of Blackpool, alive and well having just barely survived the horrors of motorway traffic jams in 27 degrees of sunshine. So what did I do while I was away, well here's a little bit of a run down.

Friday: Left Hastings around four in the afternoon. The idea was to leave a day early and stay a night half way in order to cut down on the length of the journey. With five of us crushed inside a small car, it was damn worth it. We arrived at a travel lodge outside Birmingham and slept there. Very nice to it was.

Saturday: Next morning we left around eleven, drove some more, passing Sputy and E in Liverpool and Morty-pie and Pabo in St Helens. Really wish I could have dropped by to visit, but alas, family holiday says no. Got to Blackpool mid afternoon and travelled on to a small town called Fleetwood where our caravan site is. Minus the rusty knife that broke in my mums hand and nearly cut her finger off, the caravan was very nice. Bed was a little small for a tall fella like me though...

It was actually raining when we arrived, but thankfully it cleared up and was sunny the rest of the week.

Sunday: On the Sunday we didn't wish to go into Blackpool (have you visited any tourist attraction on a Sunday in mid-summer?) so instead we visited the nearby zoo. Pretty cool place, and the weather was great. As an extra bonus, they had a lot of informative keepers roaming about doing talks on different animals, which really added a lot.

Monday: On Monday we went down to Blackpool sea front for the first time, riding the nifty (but incredibly slow) tram system they have from Fleetwood. Once in town we visited Blackpool Tower (which Sputin told me had lines going right around the block, but we managed to walk straight into). There we got to climb the 400ft tower (by elevator, obviously) and saw a rather surprising (and enjoyable) circus show, that I wasn't expecting.

Tuesday: Tuesday was spent out in the country, where we (after some trouble finding it), found the village of Ingleborough, home to the Ingleborough caves. This involved a calm forty-minute walk through nature a tour through said underground caves which go deep into the mountain. Cool place.

Wednesday: The next day was also spent in the country, this time further up in the absolutely beautiful lake district. We drove through some great scenery, had a boat ride on lake Windermere (that’s where my new avatar is from) and took some great photos.

Thursday: In complete contrast to the day before, we visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which is a sort of massive theme park full of roller coasters, crammed into the smallest space imaginable. I got to ride a tone of the rides, including the Pepsi Max Big One (and its 200ft drop), Infusion (a ride where your feet hang out and you go over water and upside-down loops) and Valhaler (an impressive boat ride, using different weather effects and a drop where the boat goes backwards through complete darkness). Great fun.

Friday: This was our last day in Blackpool. We visited the sea front one last time, checked out the Louis Tussauds Waxworks and Doctor Who Exhibition, before packing up and driving halfway home to another travel lodge. This one we arrived at after it had gotten dark, and found it nearly impossible to find. Why these things cant be built closer to the motorway I don't know.

Saturday: We woke around ten, left an hour later and drove for an exhausting six hours or so. Bloody traffic and incredible heat on the M1 and M25 didn't help...

So that was my week, and good fun it was to. Now before I show you some photos, I hear you all haven't been voting in Brian's Generation Seven Character Battle Contest like you should, and I could do with more people reading, commenting and voting in the Fantasy World Writers Contest 2007. Please and thank you.

I'm on holiday, so enjoy spamming my inbox

Okay guys, I’m off to Blackpool for the week. I get one holiday a year from all this Internet business and God damn I’m going to enjoy it. I don’t wish to toot my own Zebra, but between being a submission editor, site webmaster, forum administrator, podcast host/editor and wannabie web designer and writer, I don’t get enough free time to myself. :P

Besides, its good to be unplugged for a while. I’m going to take some fresh air, clear my mind and come back well rested.

If, by some horrible bit of fate, we have a similar “incident” as last year, some of the UK folk have my mobile number if I need to be contacted (E, Mort and wallnutboy to name some). But don’t if you don’t need to. In the mean time, EyesOfATragedy is in charge (along with Sputin whenever he gets internet access) so go bother them. ^_^

And make sure to keep voting in Brian’s Generation Seven Character Battle contest, and send your votes for the Writers Contest to private message name ‘admin’ on the forums.

Oh, and for those interested, I’m going to use my mobile to update my Twitter while on holiday. You can check it out via the link below or at the top of the forums. Enjoy. :P

Okie doke, I think that covers just about everything. See ya all next Saturday. Bye bye now!
