Arg!

The Internet, Radio, TV... all need a filter to block news about the United States election. Seriously, I'm sick of it. It's not like I don't care... but could you just wait and tell me who wins? That's all that really matters anyway.

Plus, how hard is it to do a freaking I.P. check. FaceBook and seventy-five other websites telling me to go vote is fucking anoying.

Some updates

So as you all probably know by now, Sputin is moving to America to stay with Monica's family. While in the short term it’s certainly the easiest answer to his problems, I still believe its not a good idea. Of course I've argued with him over and over about this, but he certainly has his heart set on it.

I must say I can understand his reasons. He has abusive, drunken parents (the Step dad of which attacked him the other night) who don't care about his existence and have as much respect for him as a moulded cheese sandwich, he can't get a job in a city full of cheap labour and immigrants and he owes to much debt to the bank to get a place of his own.

Running away to America though, has so many risks. He needs to apply for a visa, he needs to not get caught by his parents, the bank, the police, immigration, Interpol... So much can go wrong. But he’s prepared to risk it. All I can do is try my best to assure he’s safe. Hes a good friend. He's incredibly important to me. Heck, dispite only meeting him in person twice, I feel I know him incredibly well.

I just hope nothing goes wrong.

In lighter news, myself and Alex have been slaving away at the new look FW. Officially named "Fantasy World - Video Game and Entertainment Network", the site will hopefully open in about two months, if things go to plan. The site will include a front page for news and updates, a submission based editorial section, a shoutbox and a forum, all integrated and controlled by one universal user account for each member.

There wont be any separation between site and forum any more. It will be one site. I hope you all enjoy it. Below is a preview of the site header. Please note where it says "Fantasy World" in black font there will eventually be a logo artwork, which is being drawn for us by LordofChocobos.

In gaming news, I'm coming close to the end of Final Fantasy XII. The Bahamut (the final location I believe) is now available on the world map. Still need to make more progress in Chocobo Tales and Final Fantasy III though...

Thoughts on Virginia Tech...

Not being a hugely news interested person (quite frankly the constant reports about Iraq on the news is just down right depressing) I didn't find out about this until Eye's mentioned it to me and I checked out Sky News.

It's certainly incredibly devastating and my heart goes out to those who lost family, relatives or friends. I can't imagine what the situation must have been like from the inside. The fact a professor held a door shut while being shot so his students could escape, the fact that people were prepared to jump out of fourth floor windows...

It was horrific.

Considering the state of mind this guy was in (apparently as an English student he wrote his thoughts down extensively) its amazing nothing was done about him before. I mean, was I wrong in hearing a report that he set fire to his room? What do you have to do to get chucked out in this place? :-/

And what irritates me more is the people using this massacre for political gain. Go stamp on someone else’s grave Jack Thompson, you whore. And then there’s the NRA claiming if the university wasn’t a no gun zone and if all the students had guns, they could have protected themselves.

What’s the answer to guns? MORE GUNS of course!

You guys in America probably aren’t seeing much of this because your media is to afraid to upset people, but over in the UK this has sparked yet another debate on your gun laws. Personally, I think the idea that anyone should be allowed to buy a gun if you’re over 21 and have no criminal record (gun fares don’t even check that apparently) is completely ridiculous. What restrictions do they put on gun purchasing? You can only buy one a month! Oh gosh… what a pain that must be.

The United States constitution was written in a different age. No one, in my opinion, has the “right” to bare arms. You people wonder just why there are so many school, college and university shootings? Perhaps it’s the bloody fact that you sell guns and bubblegum over the same counter…
